Post subject: | NEW: IHART Website |
On Thursday, Dec. 18, current NTM members received the following update: "NEW IHART CONTACT INFO Since the member update on Nov 10, 2014, the new IHART Coordinator, Ms. Sidebotham, has been working to become familiar with all that has been accomplished for the field investigations currently taking place. She is also working to create a communication plan for news from the IHART process. One part of that plan is launching a new website, www.ihart.care, which has FAQs and other information about the process. Her plans are to post regular updates to that site and continue expansion of the information available there. While New Tribes Mission USA will continue to release information as needed and on the conclusions of field reviews, Ms. Sidebotham is planning to make more frequent updates that she feels will be helpful. As always, if you, or a member of your family, have information that would be helpful to the IHART investigations, please contact Ms. Sidebotham at contact@ihart.care, or 407.304.8476 or use the contact link at her website, www.ihart.care. To contact New Tribes Mission USA Department of Child Protection directly about these issues please use dcp@ntm.org." I have been waiting to see if we non-New Tribers would also receive notification about this new website, but it is now Dec. 22, and I have not personally heard anything about it from NTM. So I am posting what NTM members were sent. Check out the new website at http://www.ihart.care/ |

Am I mistaken or is the site wired so no one can copy any quote from it? There is a paragraph that might explain about the lawyers who keep the info after an investigation is done. Maybe. |

Yes, MB, it is true. We can't copy from it. I think that safeguard is rather common. I wanted to copy and paste pieces from GRACE's report on Bob Jones U here on Fanda Eagles, and encountered the same thing. |

Mosquito Bite, is this the paragraph you are referring to? "The extensive information gathered by Pii for the Panama investigation has been forwarded to Ms Sidebotham. This is standard procedure for the IHART process. As IHART Coordinator, her access to this material is necessary for reporting and finalizing procedures. When the investigation is finalized, the material will be sealed and forwarded to the law firm designated to hold the finalized IHART documents for safe-keeping. At no time have the confidential documents been in the possession of New Tribes Mission." |

Another significant paragraph from IHART's website: "Pii finished the initial part of the Panama investigation in July of 2014. The Recommendations Panel then met in October. That Panel finalized recommended outcomes for the portion of the investigation that was presented to them but unfortunately the leadership culpability portion of the Panama investigation had not yet been done." "Unfortunately the leadership culpability portion of the Panama investigation had not yet been done." I am trying to analyze and understand this. If Pii has finished their work, does that mean they didn't have anything to say about leadership culpability? Or did they include leadership mistakes in their report, but that part was not shown to the Recommendations Panel? Or is current NTM leadership balking about dealing with the culpability of the leadership on the Panama field during the period when horrendous child abuse was taking place? Make no mistake, NTM: The reason grave neglect and abuse of the children of your missionaries took place on your fields, in some cases for decades on end, has A LOT to do with field leadership and Executive Committee leadership. You cannot dodge this truth forever. You can point fingers at individual perpetrators, and you can turn their names in to the Florida authorities (who are doing nothing with that information, by the way). But until you acknowledge the ways in which your theology, your indoctrination, your policies, your leadership structure, your attitudes toward women and children, and your control over your followers set the stage for what small children in your midst were forced to endure, our voices will not be silenced. |

A couple of clichés come to mind. "A dog does not bite the hand that feeds it" and "Turkeys don't vote for Christmas (or Thanksgiving)" In realistic terms, NTM is a small group with interconnected gene pools and social ties between members. Leadership has been revered as deity appointed and therefore must be protected by whatever means possible. Given that the gene pool is now interlinked and no doubt current leaders have long serving records and quite probably are not first generation Tribers, there is layers of protection required. The lambs have been slaughtered, the occasional ram has been sent to the works as a scapegoat (or was unfortunate enough to be caught/exposed) but within the fold it is still hard to tell who is just a following sheep and who is a wolf wearing designer sheeps clothing, because most are afraid to really look and ask. And nothing will fundamentally change while there is no "Independent" inquiry. |

So if Pii isn't determining culpability, then is NTM going to decide it's leadership is culpable and then voluntarily prosecute themselves? After all we are talking about the aiding and abetting of serious criminal acts (a 58 year sentence is not given for minor misdemeanours and that criminal is not the only perpetrator of serious criminality) The message from Pii, the Recommendations Committee, IHART and whoever else is involved, should be exactly the same message that is coming out of Fanda Eagles. Treat this as serious criminal offending and have justice served, nothing less! |
