Tom White was the executive director for The Voice of the Martyrs....

"Allegations were made to authorities this week that Tom had inappropriate contact with a young girl. Rather than face those allegations, and all of the resulting fallout for his family and this ministry and himself, Tom appears to have chosen to take his own life."

This statement leave me gasping for air..... "However, the work that God has called VOM to do is bigger than any one of us."

This could have been written by a New Tribes Mission spin doctor! It certainly reflects the mind set of many, if not all, so-called "Christian" institutions:

1. They have been called of God to do their particular work. As such, they must continue. It is a divine mandate.

2. The work is more important than people. Anyone: kids, adults, saved, unsaved... The work must go on!

I heard about the Voice of the Martyrs scandal.

I was shocked. But not shocked.

I think I'm developing shock fatigue.

It's been replaced by distrust and cynicism.

I am squirming in an uncomfortable seat.

Life was happier when I thought I had it all figured out.

I had not heard about this (but I don't follow much religious news). My reaction is pretty much the same as Raz. I've become pretty cynical of most organized religious groups. Their main focus seems to be in maintaining their positions, power and the flow of money to support their life styles.

Let us be careful not to get desensitized. Yes, it seems all too common. No! It is not normal, acceptable behavior. Paul wrote to the Corinthian Church berating them for allowing a believer to cohabitate with his own step-mother. Paul said that this was not a problem among the pagans. I turn him over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh. In my judgement, pedafilia is far worse than what this believer was doing in Corinth. Maybe we should just start praying to turn the known pedafiles over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh.

Again, while it seems increaslingly a major problem in evangelical organizations, let's not get desensitized.

I may be wrong, but when I see the word "Red" and the words "Edited by a moderator" posted on the NTM website, I get a warm and fuzzy feeling (obviously mixed with peace, calm, patience, longsuffering, etc.)
It makes me think that our favorite unsaved, foul-mouthed, illiterate WWI pilot who is also an ardent triber supporter, has managed to submit his drivel to NTM; they accepted it, edited it, and posted the one sentence (see above).
