I'm also bringing back to the forefront the three ongoing IHART investigations. I am not aware of what progress, if any, has been made in any of these. The most recent update which was posted by Pat Hendrix on the NTM website (she never posts anything here on Fanda Eagles herself), was posted there on March 14:
IHART UPDATE
POSTED ON MARCH 14, 2013 by Pat Hendrix, IHART Coordinator
The Vianopolis, Brazil investigation began in May 2011. The Bolivia and Panama investigations began in January 2012. Following is an update on each investigation.
Brazil:
The scope of the investigation covers the fall 1983 to summer 1993. At the present time, nearly all individuals who have expressed a desire to provide information concerning abuse at Vianopolis school in Brazil have been contacted and interviewed. A few remain to corroborate information already obtained. The review, analysis and consolidation of information are ongoing and individuals requiring interviews continue to be identified. The interviews continue and those remaining will be conducted and completed in late March or early April 2013.
As various aspects of the investigation come together, portions of the Final Report are being completed. It is anticipated that the investigation will be completed, and a Final Report submitted in April 2013. This change is precipitated by the emergence of new materials. This time could be extended as we don’t know how long it will take to write the final report.
Bolivia:
The scope of the investigation covers 1959 to 2004 when the school was closed. The investigators have 1,056 people to attempt contact, which includes some staff as possible witnesses and/or survivors and/or perpetrators. This does not include other adult staff members.
During the month of February the Tambo investigative team has conducted at least six interviews in different parts of the country and is making progress on at least nine other interviews to be conducted.
Panama:
The scope of the investigation runs from 1962 to 2006. During January 2013, 14 interviews were conducted. An additional 47 individuals have been contacted and have yet to respond. The team is doing everything they can to be finished by mid to late summer 2013.
Recommendations Panel:
IHART is in the process of pulling together the Recommendations Panel for the Brazilinvestigation as well as other investigations.
The IHART Coordinator will put together a Recommendations Panel consisting of:
The IHART coordinator,
One of the investigators from that investigation,
One parent of an MK survivor (unrelated to MKs on the panel and not related to the current investigation),
One counselor with appropriate qualifications,
One pastor – or another person experienced in difficult situations and not associated with NTM or with any MKs, and
Two former NTM-USA MK’s, abuse survivors, chosen by the IHART Coordinator from a list of those contacted during non-related investigations.
If you know of anyone who would be qualified to serve please send their name and contact information to Pat Hendrix, IHART Coordinator at pat.mkguardian@gmail.com
