Me neither.

If I get sick I'd like a nurse who is kind, caring and not just clinically competent. If they had a sense of humour that would be a bonus and I certainly wouldn't object if they were bald, with a little white dog tagging along.

I am sorry for the way IHART has responded to some of you. I guess I approached it in a different way. First, I called Pat, I wanted to 'feel her out' see if I liked what I heard etc. before I trusted her with my stories. I find her business like, which is good, I don't want me story 'leaking out' as she talks to others, but now that she is involved with interviews, I have heard nothing but positive feedback. I can imagine how many e-mail they must be receiving and sorting through,,,dividing them into the proper countries and IHART teams. EVERYONE that has met with her, so far, really give a positive report. I wonder how many of us there really are out here. It must be staggering.

yes, everyone that has met with the team has encouraged all of us to contact Pat and the IHART team and to not be afraid because they make you relaxed and right at home

again ignore at the end of the day. They are not going to report the pedophiles to your local law enforcement agency and hand over the files/collected evidence they have held on hand for years.
So.....what are I-Hart ACTUALLY going to do at the end of the day?

I'm naturally cynical about the whole thing as any agency/business can take histories,ask questions/ shuffle papers and write recommendations in an expensive PR excercise. It's the person who actually takes action that will change the course of history who will be remembered as having truly faced the hideous truth about this disgusting mess.

Are we limited to this option rather than going to local law enforcement agencies? How does the law work on these matters in the US? Is everything restricted to our lawyers fighting NTM's lawyers for the truth and access to present our evidence held in their files?

Over a year has passed since NTM decided not to use GRACE for further investigations of MK abuse, and instead hired Pat Hendrix. At that time an anticipated process was explained to me. I would imagine that process has been modified since then, and maybe clarified too.

I do not think it is too much to ask, for us to request now that we be given an updated report about how NTM and IHART expect this process to go. To answer radioshack's question. Just exactly what can we expect, at the end of the day, when all is said and done?

According to what I recall, this is, I believe, the way the process was described to me:

NTM hired Pat Hendrix. She was to organize groups of people who would be assigned to investigate the various NTM schools that had reports of abuse. (At this point, I am tempted to say, "Except for the Philippines," but I won't. Everyone should be proud of me for my self control, and I won't get any e-mails correcting my mistaken impression.)

All expenses would be paid by NTM. I believe these groups of investigators are being paid, and all travel and other expenses are also covered.

Each school was to be investigated by a different group. How was Pat/IHART to find people to interview, in order to conduct these investigations? I guess mostly by word of mouth. One informational piece has been posted in these forums for each group, with a sentence saying that if anyone has anything they want to tell Pat, they can contact her (e-mail address and phone number provided). If there are other ways potential interviewees have been contacted, which I am unaware of, maybe someone from Vianopolis, Panama or Bolivia could let us know.

After the investigation is complete, it is my understanding that a recommendations committee will be assembled. I don't know if there is to be a different recommendations committee for each investigation, or just one for all of them. I heard that these committees would consist of non NTMers, and include MKs, but to my knowledge, none of those committees have been formed yet.

I believe then the plan was for the recommendations committee to submit their recommendations to NTM. I don't know if that means they would be submitted straight to the Executive Board, or to some other group or committee within NTM.

NTM would then make decisions about how they would respond to the recommendations. I also understand that a report would be posted on the NTM website.

So, at the end of the day, MY impression is that what we the public will see is whatever NTM chooses to put on their website. Considering the purposes of said website, I would not expect much substance in that report which we the public will see. If there is going to be a more detailed report released to the public, such as the one GRACE produced on Fanda, which included names of abusers and those who covered up abuse, I am not aware of that.

If I am mistaken about any of the steps in this plan as I understand it, I hope someone like Pat, Tibby or Andy will post a clear, step-by-step plan for how this process is going to unfold.

We are all waiting to find out.

If I can be blunt, from my personal history. My parents joined an organisation that asked us to trust them implicitly. It turned out to be trust misplaced. My parents lost their lifes savings and much more they lost years of their lives. My mother lost her freedom. We lost our dignity, because although we were all equals, some missionaries were more equal than others.
My crusade to find the truth from NTM Australia is like pulling crocodile teeth and the only replies I get are from non Austalians who convenietly know nothing.

And now I'm being asked to trust IHART who is being paid for by NTM. My e-mail exchanges have not been exactly encouraging and I wonder if I'll receive a fair hearing, or because of geographic factors, I'll be irrelevant yet again.
I'm not saying IHART is wrong, a waste of time or going to be ineffective, because the proof will be in the pudding. But I think the alarm bells going off in my head are less paranoia and more based on what was my reality and that I can't change.

I'm being interviewed by IHART on Monday (re: Vianopolis). I'm not sure what to expect, but I've printed off Raz's post (above) and will do my best to get some answers.

Just one question: If NTM were not willing to pay IHART (or any other team) to investigate, how would they ever agree to do it? I don't think it is a conflict of interest for NTM to fund the investigation. I agree, many other questions remain, but if we don't participate in the investigation by telling what we know, how will the world ever know what has occurred- the real facts, not just the rumors?

Everything I've read on this site point to lawsuits not going anywhere (except maybe a settlement to avoid going to court and to ensure the story is kept quiet.) I don't see any other way to handle this. Yes, GRACE would have been everyone's choice, but if that can't be, I have to believe God will accomplish His purpose using another team.

Appreciate your prayers as I go into the interview. I honestly didn't feel like I had much to say. But, according to the investigator who contacted me, there hasn't been very many willing to speak with them. I just don't see how that will make NTM look ANY better in the end. Won't it just help them say, "See! Those MKs talked like all this horrible stuff happened, but after the investigation, there wasn't much to report!" We'll just lose MORE credibility and NTM will save face- something they've been pretty adept at.

I too agree that 7 years is a very LONG time, and it's been 20 years too long already for many of us. However, it is our one chance to tell the truth and, hopefully, to let the truth set us free.
