Raz, I agree with you completely. My take is that he did not read this site completely nor with an open mind. As for a response, I don't think there is much point. You can't reason with someone who has their mind made up.

I think the responses posted on the main page are fantastic. Well done!

It's too easy to dismiss hurting people in this way, even as we must guard ourselves against treating people like Luther Fransen similarly.

Thank you Raz for posting Luther's comments from the main page on here. I haven't even been checking the main page anymore and totally mised it. My heart is breaking today over so much judgment against those of us who have been so hurt and who are in the process of healing and helping each other to heal (and facing tough emotions in the process). As Kathy said, God doesn't need us to protect His reputation and He can handle the feelings all of us are facing as we deal with the past and are honest with each other. Luther's comments seem like they are more about protecting an organization and an individual in that organization, which is scary in itself, since we all know what this type of thinking encourages: abuse and cover ups. And talk about spiritual abuse! I'm so thankful for the way all of your comments have helped to open my eyes and heart. I'm on this journey with you and appreciate you so much.

Singing Loudly Will Help Cover the Screams of the Children

I was reading an email recently where the writer mentioned a quote from “How to Kill 11 Million People” by Andy Andrews. The following is the excerpt:

"In Nazi Germany, railroad tracks ran behind a church. An eyewitness recalls:

'We heard stories of what was happening to the Jews, but we tried to distance ourselves from it, because we felt, what could anyone do to stop it?

Each Sunday morning, we would hear the train whistle blowing in the distance, then the wheels coming over the tracks. We became disturbed when we heard cries coming from the train as it passed by. We realized that it was carrying Jews like cattle in the cars!

Week after week the whistle would blow. We dreaded to hear the sounds of those wheels because we knew that we would hear the cries of the Jews en route to a death camp. Their screams tormented us.

We knew the time the train was coming and when we heard the whistle blow we began singing hymns. By the time the train came past our church, we were singing at the top of our voices. If we heard the screams, we sang more loudly and soon we heard them no more.

Years have passed and no one talks about it now, but I still hear the train whistle in my sleep.'"

It seems that things have not changed much from the church members and leaders in Germany during world war II, to many of our church members and leaders of today. The cries of the children who have been raped and molested, by people claiming to be ’Christians’, are growing louder and louder….but what is the response of many churches and Christian organizations? They just sing their hymns louder and louder with their self-righteous attitudes. One survivor shared with us that when she began to speak about the issue of sexual abuse at a pastor’s conference, that she was booed by the pastors and wives in attendance. She was told publically by one of the ‘good’ pastor’s wives that “they did not come to the conference to hear about things like that.” As awful as that sounds….Is it any better than those who pretend that they care, but then sing their hymns louder each time a victim comes forward with a report of abuse? Or how about the numerous missions organizations that whenever the victims come forward with reports of abuse in their boarding schools, all they can do is talk about the great work their missionaries are doing. All in an effort to drowned out the cries of the children.

Well, God hears their cries and he will hold the shepherds and the good church members accountable. Oh and I seriously doubt that God is impressed by all of the loud singing.

And another train goes by
From MK hell to the cemetery
Carrying another nameless victim
It could be your or me

But the congregation doesn't notice
For the pastor pulled the blinds
So some heroic missionary
Can show slides and warp minds

And the train blows a mournful whistle
But it is never heard
For the congregation is singing loudly
Words that seem so absurd

They've come for entertainment
And absolve their minor sins
Ramble on about Jesus love
With lovely fake grins

And the train fades into the distance
The grave has been already dug
For another shitty life has ended
That could have done with a loving hug

Meanwhile the congregation
Fulfill their Christian duty
And dismiss the odd, the different
The dispossessed and the fruity

And they'll never hear the next train
Until it takes someone close to them
Who will mourn in that moment
Or will no one care again?
