Wonder how MB is getting on with that shovel, oh no she's just hit one of the Elephants over the head with it and it's not happy.

Since I continuously was stuck on "clean the toilets" detail at EHM I guess nothing is new under the sun... shoveling shit is not much different really.
For some absurd reason I remember being the one to teach the new little kids how this job was done best.
Maybe this is why I dislike cleaning so much now.
"Work detail" won't kill you but it may affect you for life.

I HATED work detail, felt like a "peee-on". LOWWWWWWW on the totem Pole!

I am blessed with a husband that helps out when it is time to clean though... it does go really fast when we do it together.

Mrs Bemused has a husband like that. He cooks, cleans, caters to her every whim and only occasionally mentions that she is very lucky to have him.

Work detail! Don't EVEN get me started!

That was part of the indoctrination process for sure.

The irony is that when many of us finally got out to the mission field, we actually had maids who cleaned our bathrooms for us.

I do NOT enjoy housework at all ...

I am a MW (missionary wife) and talking about husbands. I didn't work outside the home besides charity work that I was quite involved in. My husband did nothing in the home (my request, I was superwoman). I had heart surgery last year and how things change. He babies me to no end but I have finally accepted it, I am fine now but just enjoying the reversal of roles for awhile. Back to work detail. I have no problem with children being assigned work but I have trouble children being bossed on a 24/7 basis by someone other than their parents. I realize that was the set up but it just doesn't seem right. I think about my grandchildren, when I have them I cannot be their parent, I try to obey all the rules the mum sets down for me when I have them but at the end of the day I cannot discipline like I disciplined my children. Therefore, how can a dorm parent care for a child in a boarding school setting? I suppose I am rambling but no one can care and love a child like a parent and saying that I love my grandchildren very much. Full stop.
