What puzzles me, is that assurances are given that much has changed, yet the same mantras from yesteryear are still being spoken. And if those Mantras are reaching the ears of someone who is at the bottom of the globe and they are coming from sources that have no physical connection, then it would tend to suggest that they are still widely in use and therefore widely believed.

When one is still hearing, "keep quiet, you are ruining a good man's ministry" and "the abuse rate is lower than the national average", this is cause for concern, because these words were being issued decades ago, so has anything changed?

And by logical deduction it is a fair question to then ask, are current MKs being told "We are in a spiritual battle, if you say anything that will cause trouble, then souls will be lost and it will be your fault"? Because if current MKs are being told this (and I have heard a version of it recently), then the environment for excusing abuse has not been dismantled at all.

And that worries me.

"Lower than the national average." How pathetic. Full stop.

It appalls me to hear this nonsense and that seemingly intelligent people actually pedal it like some justification for carrying on blindly in any mission.
The bottom line is, that in any religious organisation there should be a zero rate of child abuse and any case that surfaces should not only be dealt with by the law but by the righteous fury of the leaders. Instead the law is avoided and the leaders trot out tired pathetic excuses like this or do absolutely the bare minimum to make it look like they even remotely care.

NTM could well go under because of this and the only people they can blame is themselves, not those who seek justice or answers or those charged with upholding the law. But the choice has been theirs all along, victims had little choice in their upbringing, so in a way it will be a fair solution.
