If I had been a young MK who had taken their own life, I hope that my family and friends would weep, I mean really weep! Weep at the terrible waste! And I would hope that my parents would ask why with all their heart! And if they found out that it was because I had been a victim of abuse, then they would do everything in their power to track down who had done the abuse and make sure they suffered consequences that would makes sure that they never abused another child!

Then and only then could I rest in peace!

I know this is a terrible terrible subject to discuss, but this is reality in cults!

Maybe we can prevent another tragedy by understanding WHY!

I've been reading here for quite awhile. While I'm not a missionary or MK, my heart breaks to read of all the atrocities that have happened and, even worse, the numerous cover-ups undertaken rather than doing the only right thing...turning each and every one of these offenders over to the authorities and cooperating with each investigation to ensure that these wolves in sheep's clothing spend the rest of their lives where they belong - in prison. Even worse is the total lack of concern in so many cases for the victims, may of whom, as has been aptly pointed out, have been given a life sentence without any possibility for parole.

As a Christian man, I am infuriated by the actions and, in so many cases, the lack of appropriate actions, which have contributed to so many lives being needlessly destroyed. God IS NOT pleased. In tears, I stand with each and every one of you in demanding that the many missions, churches, and agencies that have acted in such atrocious ways repent of this and do whatever they can and should to see the perpetrators brought to justice and the victims get the love, support, and counseling they need to help them as much as is possible. The stonewalling, lying, covering up, not caring, or outright ignorance (voluntary and self-induced) simply must stop now.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to read here and get a grasp of what has happened to MK abuse survivors and their supporters. Your observations are astute, and your support is deeply appreciated.

These forums, once very active, have for the most part gone silent. Not because we have run out of things to say, but because we feel we have exhausted our options and lost our hope of ever seeing NTM (now Ethnos360) respond in a moral and Godly way to our issues and concerns.

Your post makes me wonder if there are others out there who are still taking the time to read the many paragraphs we have written here. Perhaps we have not yet reached the end of our journey.

Thank you for your compassionate tears, and for taking the time to let us know publicly that you care. It truly means so much!

Thanks for taking the time to write this. I agree, pedopiles should have been turned over to the authorities and dealt with by the full force of the law. If the first offender had been dealt with in such away that it sent a clear message to all, it is reasonable to extrapilate that the mission environment would have been a much safer and pleasant environment.

Instead the whole saga is one big mess. And there are very few winners. As for the "lost in foreign lands", I think they got a raw deal. Rarely mentioned and the hard earned $ of the donors is more likely to end up cleaning up the mess of the "faithful" than helping . . .

Yes, it's nice to hear of another man who is infuriated by this situation.
If only this had been dealt with harshly and appropriately in the 1950's when it started.
Or do we know when it started?
We don't know about the 40's---everyone is gone.
Or silent.

I don't see how any rational human being of either sex could be anything less than infuriated by reading of all the abuse documented on this forum.

We don't either, Dennis.

So it seems to me that either people are not reading here ... or they're not rational. :?

It's been a very long and disappointing journey ... I, for one, am depleted and weary ...

I wish you'd been here years ago, when there was a lot of activity here. It would have been really good to have support from someone like yourself, from outside of the NTM world.

Oh but what is written here is read and it is discussed. Tribers and ex Tribers are afraid of how the publicity is evolving around this scandal and behind the scenes NTM (let's not bother with the new name) is in damage control. NTM is a group where relationships are close and go back a long way. Intermarriage between families is common and several generations are often within the ranks. Shake the NTM tree hard enough and quite often out will fall a child sex offender who is related and therefore it is in the interests of many not to have the trees shaken.

In a recent discussion with a loyal ex Triber I was told that rapists and child sex offenders should be in jail. However NTMs offenders should be forgiven because they are doing "the Lords work in the Devils lands and been tempted by the Devil". This gives some sort of immunity. When I suggested that this was "cult think", I was told that I was "not right in the head" and "will die prematurely". And then followed the usual diatribe of how NTM is the only true mission reaching "the lost" and "the work" must go on because the world is getting more evil and Jesus is just about to come back to earth.
The problem with this nonsense, is that it breeds sex offenders and as mentioned often, the majority of NTMs listed staff are no where near "the lost" they are back in their home countries doing goodness knows what (42% at last count were in the U.S., then add in the other sending countries and those home on various types of leave and it's easily over half). The other problem with this nonsense, is that this is not an isolated case of this rationale.

To be fair, there is a significant number of ex tribers who have left because they are not happy with NTMs handling of this scandal and/or other related reasons. There are also many who have elected to stay for a variety of reasons and for many of these it is because they believe that this scandal is historic and NTM has policies in place that will stop future offending.

I see our role as making sure that there is no fence of ignorance to sit on. I.e. that Tribers and supporters know what this scandal is about and the magnitude of it and then can make an informed decision about their own roles. Scott Kennels incarceration is proof that our concerns that NTM has still got major problems and cannot handle its criminals appropriately.

My humble opinion is that NTM is a CULT because of the way it attempts to control the rational thinking of its members and the public at large. The job of exposing the past and the mishandling of the mess is done. There is enough information freely available (thanks be to the internet) that all can make informed decisions as to their futures re NTM. There are some good people in NTM (as there are in most organisations) and there is a core who do not want the NTM tree shaken for fear of what and who might fall out. If FE ceases to exist, there is no shame in that, we have done our role and done it with honor and without resorting to lies and threats.

If you are tired and weary, perhaps we should gather up all the branches that have fallen from aforementioned tree. Put them in a large pile and toast cyber marshmallows over the flames of truth. Would you like a red or white wine with your marshmallows?

Marshmallows? Yes please! Not black, not white ... just a perfect, toasty brown ...

And some sweet wine. Several glasses of it.

Then a nice long nap ... zzzz ....
