I thought that I saw or read somewhere that more information became available and therefore some had to be re interviewed

Bullshit, there is no new info that needs to be found out, this is a waste of time. They are just playing games with us

Yes, it feels like playing games to me too.

Theresa Sidebotham has indicated that Pii "unfortunately" didn't include leadership culpability in their Panama report, so now she must painstakingly take on that task. In light of the fact that she is good friends with Scott Ross, legal counsel for NTM, it does indeed seem unlikely that she will take a hard-line approach against Panama leadership.

I read her July update on the IHART website yesterday. The words look so reassuring. I expect the results to be very different.

Games. Games are something children play. "Let's pretend..." Yeah, lets pretend to care .... lets see how long we can keep this up before people finally figure out what's going on and stop expecting us to do the right thing, when we have no intention of truly doing so.

Ugh.

:x

There was silence from Theresa Sidebotham on the IHART website during August. Today I see there is an update for September, 2015.

Bad news, Panama MKs. Tambo may be ahead of you in the investigation progress now. Unless Theresa can find reason to delay the completion of that one too.

None of us would be surprised if that happens.

IHART Progress Report September 2015

The investigative teams are continuing with interviews and compiling information toward the writing of final reports. I have been pleased with the effectiveness of the teams as they have travelled and coordinated their efforts to bring the interview portion of these investigations to a conclusion. The Bolivia team plans to begin writing their concluding documents near the end of September. It has been a long investigation and I am not able to predict at the time an exact concluding date for that writing process, but it's good to be shifting from interviewing to writing. The Panama team continues with interviews and is making good progress.

From the April update, posted on the IHART website http://www.ihart.care/progress.html :

"The Panama Review continued with the Leadership Culpability Report being viewed by a Panel whose recommendations were then given to NTM. The final writing stage is now in progress with individual Statements of Findings being prepared and the Summary Report is also being written. It is time-consuming, given the large number of SoFs needed, but we are making every effort to conclude this phase in order to pass on the results to those who have made themselves available and vulnerable, and to see this process to completion."

To NTM MKs:

IHART Change:

As IHART has progressed with its first field reviews, it has become clear that the task is extremely complicated and time-consuming. Nevertheless, NTM USA remains committed to facilitating the investigation of these historical allegations.

Our original goals for this process have not changed. These are: to remove any abusers who may be serving with NTM USA; to give victims an avenue to tell their story; to offer a means for counseling for any victims who desire that; and to learn from the past to make our organization as safe as possible for all children. However, original plans have evolved and improved with new information and increased understanding, necessitating change in some areas.

Ms. Hendrix has enabled us to progress through the initial three and one half years of this process. Much has been accomplished and many goals reached during this time. While NTM USA appreciates her work and contributions to this effort, at this time Ms. Hendrix is stepping out of her role as IHART coordinator.

Theresa Lynn Sidebotham of Telios Law PLLC has now been appointed to the role of IHART coordinator. Ms. Sidebotham has a strong background in missions. She grew up on the mission field herself, in a Muslim urban environment in Indonesia. She has experienced home school, international school, mission boarding school, U.S. private Christian school and public school. As she and her husband spent time in the military and on the mission field, two of their four children were born overseas. She understands abuse issues and protecting children, as she both personally experienced an environment where child sexual abuse was endemic, and had to protect her own children in a similar environment.

Ms. Sidebotham currently represents children and families in special education cases and cases of governmental misconduct, as well as doing extensive child safety work with religious organizations.

We believe that having Ms. Sidebotham coordinate the IHART process is the best path forward. She will be able to provide new avenues of communication, implement current best practices standards and will further ensure the privacy of those who have entrusted their stories to IHART.

The teams currently doing investigations will be continuing their work during this transition time.

I'm just catching up on the iHart updates. Very discouraging to say the least. So lets review a little. This communication was sent out directly after a few of us had met with some members of the Board of NTM and Theresa Sidebotham.

It seems that in addition to NTM's "original goals" not being changed, their inaction or following through the goals has not changed as well. Personally, I'd like to see and audit these goals and the outcome. We know there are still abusers in NTM that have not been dismissed. This has been discussed at length here in these forums. We also know that telling your story in a vacuum is essentially being gagged. We also know that the pathway to counseling is extremely difficult and damaging in itself given that NTM through iHart decides how many counseling sessions you need (that they will pay for). Without following through with just these goals any hope of making NTM "as safe as possible for all children" is stymied. And yes, NTM needs increased understanding and definitely needs change in all areas surrounding the institutionalized abuse of mks.

"Our original goals for this process have not changed."

I would suggest re-wording the rest of that paragraph, NTM. Maybe something like this would be more truthful:

Our original goals for this process have not changed. We will soothe our mission members, supporters and onlookers with pious platitudes about how much we care and how hard we are working at this process. We will pay attorneys (using our contingency funds) to advise us and direct things, so that we can claim to have little knowledge of the actual progress or lack of it, or "why things are taking so long". Meanwhile, (wink, wink), said attorneys will stall and stall, until abusers have passed on, MK survivors grow weary and walk away, the mission changes its name and claims to have no responsibility for what happened in the previous organization, or the Rapture comes. Bring back the King. And hurry it up.
