We have been told that IHART is reporting the abusers whose names they uncover in their investigations.
Reporting them to someone, somewhere. It is unclear to me exactly how that part of the process is being done.
At any rate, I am thinking there is a growing list of names of missionary child abusers somewhere in Florida.
Since most of the abuse that IHART investigators are learning about occurred years/decades ago, I have a feeling the expanding list is accumulating on a computer somewhere, and authorities are not paying very close attention.
I may sound cynical, but considering that IHART began its first investigation over three years ago, and presumably started reporting names as soon as it began receiving them, the fact that we have not been made aware of any action on the part of any law enforcement agency against these "historic" abusers leads me to suggest that nothing has been done, nothing is being done, and nothing will be done by US law enforcement.
And THAT is why it is of UTMOST importance that we see some significant action coming from NTM headquarters in Sanford! It is up to the NTM EB to take punitive measures against these people who are former or current members of their organization!
In my opinion, the "consequences" against those found guilty of abuse or enabling abuse at the school in Vianopolis were far too gentle. Even the things the Executive Board requested, like letters of contrition, and contributions to the MK counselling fund, I tend to think have not been carried out.
And that is why the group of Panama MKs has written the document posted in this thread. They are stating clearly that more significant results need to come out of the investigation into the abuses that they suffered.
As a citizen of the United States of America, I am disappointed that our officials do not respond more forcefully to the atrocities committed against children on NTM mission fields in the 1950s-1990s. It is truly disappointing, but we are not out of options.
And so we keep speaking out.
