MB, I have read as much of Gene Long's story as he has made public.
It would be so much easier if everyone could be labeled as "completely good" or "completely bad" wouldn't it? But the reality of life is that almost nothing ever is. Life is just not that simple or straightforward. There is almost always more to the story that what one person provides (Prov 18.17 A man's side of the story sounds right until the other side is heard). If the whole picture could be seen, probably no one other than the victims are truly innocent -- everyone could have done more or done something differently. In fact, not even the abusers are completely vile personalities, as conflicting reports from the various MK's about any given individual make clear.
As I read back over what RAZ posted about the GRACE recommendations for Scott Ross, I see this: "NTM should acknowledge the work of Scott Ross in raising awareness of child abuse within NTM as well as his work in developing a child protection protocol within NTM. At the same time, Scott Ross failed to adequately investigate and respond to the Fanda abuse scandal. Several MKs expressed a lack of confidence in Scott Ross's ability to handle this matter for the future. Accordingly, GRACE recommends Scott Ross be permanently removed from any and all work and/or responsibilities relating to any form of child abuse matters within New Tribes Mission."
I'll paraphrase: #1 Scott Ross DID endeavor to promote child protection. #2 He could have done more. #3 Some MK's lack confidence in Scott Ross for the future. #4 The removal of Scott Ross is a vote of "no confidence," not than "he's out to baffle the investigations."
