I am angry, hurt, full of rage, having trouble sleeping, and heart broken. My great niece was sexually abused by her drunken father, she is 2 months old. The mum was at the doctor when this took place, My brother is a mess, my niece, the baby's mum, is in shock. I want him put away for life but my research shows 8 years. Yes, I said 8 years, I pray I am wrong. My brother's son and son in law want to kill him, he is in gaol so they won't. My brother has custody until the mum is cleared of any involvement, I guess this is procedural.

Oh, that is nauseating, isn't it! It is hard to even imagine this crime, but I know it is possible. We have had babies in such cases brought to the hospital where I work.

Eight years only, for a horrendous crime like this? Where do they live? That does not seem like nearly enough.

Sadly, a defense attorney will still fight a case as blatantly savage as this .... I don't know how defense attorneys in these situations can even sleep at night.

I can't begin to tell you how terribly sorry I am that this happened in your own family. You and others you love must be devastated.

Prayers for the healing of this tiny, innocent victim.

Sometimes the evil in this world is more than I can bear.

What is going on??????

This happened in Iowa in the States. My brother has hired a solicitor and I pray I just didn't understand what I was reading. My sister says he will be put away for a long time says her daughter in law but I think this is what they all want to believe, hope they are right. I am trying to stay calm, at least on the outside and I feel so helpless.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say a shorter hard sentence is better than a long soft one.

Put animals like this away: No TV, no internet, no nice three course meals, no phone calls! Just the very basics, a bed, a blanket, a bit of exercise in the sun, simple food and not much else. Just plenty of time to think.

People destroy their own ministries and like my husband says, the church has condoned these perverted actions so what do we think the results are going to be? These organisations think they are too big to fail and I have to admit they must be as they put a look what we are now doing to protect our children and keep on keeping on. Look at their websites and that is their defence of hiding their past child abuse, makes me so upset. It was my brother's 2 sons not son in law, I am not in my right mind at the present. Like my sister told them, they will serve more time than he would. I remember a case in New Zealand where a father killed his daughter's attacker and I think walked free, good for him. I also agree that he just might get what he deserves in a shorter sentence. I understand fellow prisoners don't accept child abuse, maybe they could teach religious organisations a thing or two. I remember when I started reading the abuse by ABWE and NTM and how upset I was and now here I am again. I hate feeling this way, if only more so called religious people would understand, I am venting to the choir must stop.
