Thank you, Catstiptoes, for sharing your heartbreaking story with us.

Child abuse can be so very devastating, in a lifelong way, that I really don't know what is ever "enough". This is why we continue to speak out, trying to help people understand how vitally critical it is to protect the children of today, so that this lifelong pain is not the future that awaits them. Please, never again, is my plea.

I am glad you did feel you were listened to, and heard, by the people who travelled to Australia to interview you. I am very sorry SIL is not helping you as much as they should, with your expenses.

And most of all, I am very sorry you experienced abuse as a child in the Philippines. That is where I raised my own children, so your story feels close to home for me.

Bagabag and Aritao .... not many kilometers separated those two MK schools. It is sad to know the two were similar in other ways as well. Places which, for some MKs, were neither safe nor happy.

SIL International now has a Child Safety Team who visits any person who reports to any SIL member in authority, that they experienced child abuse while within SIL anywhere in the world. The Child Safety Team is affiliated with other mission organisations. Each mission contributes members to the organisation who are then trained in receiving reports of child abuse, and investigating those reports, and delivering their findings.

This group that SIL is a part of would be the Child Safety and Protection Network, often mentioned here as CSPN.

Co-founded by Scott Ross, legal counsel for NTM, and good friend of Theresa Sidebotham, who now heads up IHART, or the Independent (cough, cough) Historical Allegations Review Team (IHART previously stood for Independent Historical Abuse Review Team ... note the name change).
