Richard Hine's Facebook page can still be accessed.

On it I see many "friends" whose names I recognize from NTM.

Part of the problem is that many of those friends have no idea what he did, or even that he did something. I was a student when Hines was removed for molesting children. We were told we were not allowed to know what the issue was or to even talk about it. Just recently he came up with one of my friends who was a student at the time and I told them what Hines had done; he was stunned. He had had no idea. I think that is true of many of the former students who were/are Facebook friends with him.

A similar scenario happened in PNG, which would suggest that it was policy worldwide for NTM to coverup offenders. Not much has changed.

Which is exactly why NTM did not use GRACE for any additional investigations, as they did not want the names of the perpetrators to be made public. I'm not sure how they justify that stance, but it's very clear that they believe it's the right thing to do. (I know they have said that it's to protect the identity of the victims, but that is complete bulls**t. As we see in the ABWE report, it is possible to name the perpetrators and not reveal identifying information of the victims.)

While Theresa has said a lot of times that it's about protecting the victims, if you push she will say that it's illegal to name the abusers and that would open NTM up to lawsuits. This is completely false; it would only be libel/slander if they were making it up. If the abuser sued them, they would simply have to produce their evidence to support their claim - which is why no abuser would ever sue. They may threaten, but they would be terrified to have all that witness testimony and evidence on the public record and in the news. NTM did the work of thoroughly investigating, they would have no problem defending themselves in court. The true fear I have to believe is putting a face to the horrific stories, to letting that information get out there and humanizing it, and risk future income/support for the organization.

I agree with your perspective on this, Tambo MK! Thanks for that!

Theresa now uses the term "internal investigation" and even "employee investigation" as an excuse for why it would be inappropriate for her to name names of abusers who were or are "employees" of the mission. This is all so bogus, and we do not buy it!!

Yes.

No! It should be a criminal investigation. Rape and sexual molestation are serious crimes. This whole sordid mess should have been handled by law enforcement from day one.

Anyone covering up a crime or criminal is aiding and abetting, that is a criminal offence. Any organisation doing the same is also committing a criminal offence.

NTM is a criminal organisation. No ifs, buts or maybes.

Yes, and many here have said that for YEARS!
Amidst big discussions about showing grace.
People experience or give grace in the church (sometimes!)
But let criminals go to court.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!!!!!! NTM is a criminal organisation. Lock up the leaders and make and example of them.

Shout it from the rooftops, sing it in the churches and do it till you loose your voice! There are a lot of really stupid people out there and they haven't worked it out yet!
