Yes, I think it was a pretty rare occurrence but it did occur. I don't think there is any point in exposing who was involved, those who need to know about this already do.
There is a well documented non NTM case of a missionary involving themselves with the occult and then the disastrous disintegration of the family and their tragic demise.

I can't for the life of me explain what some of the Tribers at Numonohi were doing there, having little interest in the indigenous people (even abusing them), beating and sexually abusing children. It was the exact opposite to what Christ extoled, but I think it was a symptom of their perverted personas and unbridled thirst for control over others, rather than any occult ritual. But then I could be wrong and nothing would surprise me when it comes to Numonohi anymore.

Which is a very sad thing to have to say.
But necessary, very necessary, to say it!

The events of 9/11 were known before they happened, the only reason they were not stopped is because each piece of info was held by a different group and they didn't communicate with each other. And so for many around the globe 9/11 became the beginning of their "Hell on Earth".

The way to combat child abuse in religious organisations is to expose who, when and where. NTM and other groups have had ample time to come clean about their past and take restorative initiatives, but have backtracked on initial good promises and actions (such as getting GRACE to investigate). By not cleaning up the mess of the past, the same conditions still exist for "religious terrorists" to unleash "Hell on Earth" on the innocents they come into contact with.
Our role in combating this is to put the information we know in front of people who can make a difference, whether that be a public forum or private interested parties.

It's simply a matter of choice, to do nothing or to take a stand, just like the repercussions of 9/11.

So the revelation that the occult was being practised in NTM doesn't shock anyone?????? Holy cow, we're either immune to this stuff or it's more common than anyone is letting on!!!!!!! That's real scary. Or is this another one of those no go subjects that we don't talk about??????

Anyone else grow up with the story line that we were serving in the Devils own country and it was spiritual warfare and now wonders what side who was on, cuz what was going on in my neck of the woods sure wasn't the work of the Lord!!!!!!!!!!

Aussie -- you make me laugh. Don't you wish we could go back, knowing what we know now, and do it over again?

I don't recall any occult stuff going on but if there was it was certainly hidden much more than the blatant physical abuse.

Can you imagine seeing a group of boys (some of them your brother, some of them 6yrs old, some 16yrs old) standing in line outside the principal's personal house waiting to be spanked? Spankings for losing a red pen resulting in a demerit -- or simply not conforming to whatever the flavor was at the time.

I'm very grateful to the people who post here and are making us aware of the injustices of the past. Hopefully our kid's generation don't experience what we did!

No way do I want to go back to Numonohi, I'm trying my darnedest to forget the place!!!!!!!!!!! But if sharing our stories helps, then I can cope with that.

Only way the next generation will grow up without the Numonohi experience is if their parents keep away from the NTM cult. I bet if we went back to Numonohi today, not much would have changed!!!!!!!!! They'd still be heaps of kids trying to say the right things so they don't get some perverted uncle laying into them with the old personal ministry. And they'd still be the odd creepy uncle who everyone knew wasn't right in the head, with wandering eyes and laying on hands where he shouldn't, while his Christian brothers scurry back to their computers to tune into their favorite porn!!!!!!!
How do I know, simple. We all got told that the abuse had stopped and it would be dealt with if it ever came back, but that was a big fat lie, because no one dealt with Gary Earl and Scott what's his name properly!!!!!!!

As long as NTM exists, the abuse will go on, because it goes with the arrogance of a whole bunch of deluded men who think they have the right to tell anyone who they come into contact with how to live their lives and look down their pious noses at anyone who doesn't think the same rubbish as they do!!!!!!!!

Rant over, better go have a drink

The brilliant Mrs Bemused and I have the conversation that starts with "if you could go back in time, what would you change" sometimes.
Problem for me, is where would I start  but on the other hand, through adversity sometimes comes a strength of character or ways of adapting that serve one well in life, so would I change anything?

I think the amount of physical violence was totally unnecessary, the sexual offending was criminality and a blatant violation of trust in an environment which preached purity and yet allowed so much perversion. And then there was the endless mental (or spiritual if one prefers) manipulation, by dogmatic repetition or the laying of guilt. It went on in the school, it went on at home, the chapel, the one on one personal ministry, it just never stopped.

So back to the question, if I could change one thing in my life's journey, I'd stop my parents from having gone into NTM. Sure life has turned out o.k. for me now, but I could have done without the angst of getting it to this point through the wilderness that was the Numonohi years and the ongoing consequences of them.

I sure didn't know who was on what side and I'm even less sure now.

At least my conscience was clear, I was the MK who played in his own sandbox, with his few toys. I invited other MKs to play with me, but they looked at me as if I'd pooped in the sand somewhere and some even nicked off with some of my toys. I didn't like my sandbox, but it got to feeling somewhat safe and I wasn't allowed in the nicer sandboxes that others had.

Now I'm all grown up, but I've still got my own sandbox. I haven't pooped in it and sometimes old MKs come and play with me, which is really cool. Nobody dares nick off with any of my toys or throw sand in my face, because the pen is mightier than the sword and I've got a pretty cool pen. ;)

My recent post just disappeared when I hit submit. Sheesh. Hopefully this does not post twice.

I was saying that I agree with Bemused in that if I could change one thing in my past, it would be the exposure to NTM. But I have to admit that living for a period of time in PNG was a great life experience. I learned to value truthfulness and how to have respect for anyone of any race or nationality. But I would really like to go back in time with Aussie and her chainsaw.

That way when it was my turn to be forced to pray, and I politely declined, I could just look over at Aussie and she could flex her saw and that would be the end of that. The perverted "uncles" might think twice.

I laugh at that post Aussie. I'll join you for a drink now too!!!
