Who knows how many before, but a hell of a lot after! And all those Tribers claiming they didn't know, yeah right and I'm the Archbishop of London. The PNG field was full of gossip, remember there was no tv or radio and little alcohol, so we socialized and we gossiped. Just the stuff that should have been brought into the open was kept strictly in house, to keep the reputation alive. So if you were in the right circles you were privy to much information and if you were on the outer, you knew nothing. And that is how it was done, your silence was bought by fear of spilling the beans to the wrong person and being left in the cold by your little circle. Meanwhile the poor hardworking tribal folk, only caught snippets of the gossip, when they came out for conference or holidays. We all knew that there were affairs going on, but as long as it was discrete and not with someone outside the appropriate circle, then a blind eye was closed. Have an affair with the wrong person and it was published in the field newsletter and you were on the next plane home. We had a dormparent who's offending was well known, but as long as he kept his hands off the children of the powerful and mighty, then nothing was done.
I say again. This was a cult! And nothing has changed, so it still is and it needs to be stopped!
