Hurt-n-Hopeful, again thank you for sharing about your interview. You are all so brave and it gives us encouragement in sharing our stories with investigators. Knowing that there are those out there like yourself and Allbetter.......we know there are others also who have/are telling their stories.

As I have said I want more out of this investigation than recommendations and paperwork........the more stories documented the better. Either way NTM must act or they will find themselves up the Mississippi without a paddle.

My my....I did learn something in all those classes of American Social Studies at Numonohi....I still know how to spell Mississippi.

Frank Parker was my grandfather. My father graduated from Via in 81. Just to let you all know my grandpa died of cancer of the spine in March of 96 and I knew him and I don't believe for one second that he would do that to anyone. My grandma would not allow such things to happen. She is the sweetest hardest working most caring and loving woman as a grandma goes. I'm sorry you feel this way about Via and the little dorm. I understand that some people have done things but I am not going to believe that my grandpa whom I loved would ever do anything like that. Until I am otherwise informed by immediate family members I will not believe it.

Well done on having the courage to express your convictions of this forum. This is now obviously a delicate matter.

I don't personally know the history of this case, as I was on a different field. However some of us have discovered that our fathers (and the occasional mother) were not who they portrayed themselves and that what they were up to was actually criminal. I had a neighbor who went to jail for his crimes within NTM, yet I remember him as being one of the better missionaries that I encountered in my childhood, in that he stood up for me, where many didn't.
Some MKs remember my father for the great sportsman that he was and how he helped them with their sporting pursuits, but at home there was a very different side to him and one that still exists to this day.
Much of this boils down to the motive for why our parents and grandparents were on the field in the first place. Obviously for many it was a genuine desire to reach the native populations, but for some it was the pursuit of power and others to escape the demons of their past. Those pursuing power struck it rich and those running from the demons of their past found that they ended up in fields of temptation beyond what they imagined. And then there were some who were nothing but total fakes, who found the mission environment with it's seclusive nature a near perfect hunting ground for their perverted pleasures. We had some of each of these in PNG and although some were obviously on the field for their own strange reasons, some like my neighbor got away with their crimes until someone bravely spoke out (and incurred the wrath of NTM in the process, who attempted to cover up) and a court did not get their verdict wrong.

Any allegation of sexual abuse needs to be investigated by competent independent professionals, so that the truth is forthcoming and the horrors of the past are never repeated. For if we don't then this will be repeated over and over http://on.wesh.com/ZMIDFS

Your post is filled with emotion, and it makes my heart hurt. I know you loved your grandpa, and I understand that hearing anything bad about people we love is incredibly painful.
I did not know Frank, and I am not from the East Brazil field. So I have no direct involvement in this particular case. I don't know how you came to learn of this website; whether it is a new discovery, or something you've known about for a while.
Have you spoken with your immediate family about these things? That is what I would encourage you to do, as soon as possible. They are the ones most qualified to discuss this with you, since you are a part of the Parker family.
The Vianopolis investigation should be winding down soon. At that time, more information will probably come out. I hope that before that happens, you will have gotten some answers to your questions and concerns.
Please know that we hurt with and for you. There are many, many innocent people all over the world who are hurting these days, because they are connected in some way to the things discussed on this website. I have no desire to add to the pain already being experienced. I pray your heart will be able to be at peace. The world is a really tough place to live in, sometimes. Many of us know this all too well.

Your post is absolutely heart-breaking. I know your aunt and I know she believes as you do that your grandaddy was innocent. I have never met your grandma, but have heard the highest praises about her.

I also have read the posts about his abuse and heard about it from an adult mk. It is proven fact that only one to five percent of children's allegations of abuse are false. I pray you can talk to family members and find the truth. You need to realize however that your family members are probably going to feel the same as you. No one wants to believe the worst about someone they care about.

I am sure you know Scott Kennell having lived in Via. ???? Although he was from West Brasil field, we all knew him. He is now in prison. I would have never thought of him being involved in pornography.

Oftentimes, the truth hurts. I am sorry.

I do not know Scott. And I know that it happens. It's just hard to see stuff about my grandpa being accused. If it is true why didn't they arrest him or anything when Ruth's mom went to do something about it? He was still a little dorm parent for years til he got sick. My parents would have kept us away from him etc.

Ntm didn't have proper procedures set in place for children reporting abuse until the last few years. The history of the mission in Senegal proves this. The Grace investigation into the abuse there showed many shortcomings of ntm on behalf of child victims. On that field many parents were left in the dark and had no idea that children had reported abuse till years after the fact.

I pray for you to find answers and healing. It is only natural for you to want concrete facts and answers and to defend your family member. May God grant you courage for whatever you discover.

NowAware is correct MissingVia701, In Senegal, the dorm father was reported to the field committee. They accused the girls of lying and left the man there. He continued to abuse MANY more girls and got away with it. With more complains, he was sent home for family "counseling" None of us were told of the complaints of abuse and we all sent our girls to the dorm. Because of it not being dealt with and kept a secret... my 3 precious girls were put into his path.

The damage is extensive.
