We should've been taught about credit/ banking, had driver's ed, and been educated as to our options after school while IN SCHOOL. We didn't have a guidance counselor to talk about abuse/ emotions/ dying on the inside, let alone discuss our futures. If we had, I could have learned that I didn't have to go to NTBI, but I wasn't told about other options, about grants, student loans, or the schools that give breaks to MKs. I went to NTBI and found that I STILL had to deny my feelings and opinions in order to stay under the radar. Another environment where I got in trouble when I was honest but got along swimmingly when I put a smile on my face and shut my mouth.

When I decided to drop out of NTBI at the age of 19, they were going to call my parents to inform them (tattle) b/c they felt they had an increased "obligation" in regard to students of NTBI with parents still serving with NTM. I had to take it all the way to a committee member (luckily visiting from Sanford at the time) and argue my point that I was an adult, and they had no right to tell my parents anything I did. I told my parents at the first opportunity about my decision, I wasn't trying to hide anything-- that wasn't the point. Where was that feeling of obligation when it came to the children of their missionaries?

I know my parents received harsh words because neither I or my sibling even considered going to a NTM Bible School. I was personally told that I was not in God's will and was led to believe that I would suffer for making such a "drastic" decision. Actually I think I would heve suffered if I had given in to the pressure. It's sad how some of the leaders lost sight of the fact that it is God who is perfect and not the agency, NTM and there are some real Christians - Godly people - who are not in any way connected to NTM.

I couldn't even pump gas!!! didn't know how felt so stupid they wanted us to fail!! why?? so we would come back and continue for our moms and dads like robots my 1st apt I laid in the tub with 5 blankets in 85 heat shaking!! went on for bout 2 yrs!! no one from ntm wanted me to succeed

And yet, I have hope. Why? The prayers of the . . . accomplish much. This just isn't too big for God.

And God may use the courts...
