When/if NTM reassures anyone that they have reported an offender, I'd be inclined to ask who the matter was reported to and when. It is very easy to find the wrong person or department to report something to, knowing that the matter will be put in the too hard basket and then the conscience is clear because the matter has been reported.
What we are dealing with are major crimes committed on a grand scale within an organisation that has a track record of aiding and abetting criminals and obstructing victims from seeking justice.
To accept at face value that NTM or any mission is going to essentially report itself, is a kin to a turkey voting for thanksgiving!

And I wouldn't give up hope of seeing Les Emory or any other monster arrested. Look at the monumental shift in how offenders are now being dealt with. I doubt Scott Kennell would have been dealt with so efficiently 3 years ago, but the U.S. government has had enough of it's citizens misbehaving overseas and is working with other like minded international groups to round up and prosecute offenders. Note also that it was the U.S. government who notified the NBI of the concern in the Tom Randall case, not the other way round, this is significant.
So back to Les Emory, it might never eventuate, but is the world a better place for brave people having stood up and made a good attempt? I say yes, because it has got the right law enforcers looking in the right direction and as they looked they have already found one current offender, who will never harm a child again. And that in my book makes the effort worthwhile. On the other hand, it may just eventuate, you never know what will happen next, for we live in changing times and have only to tell the truth.

His sentencing has been covered by news agencies from all over the world--Africa, Norway

Some Brazilian bloggers are calling for greater transparency and supervision of agencies, and for a bigger response/apology from MNTB

Kennell's stash was also discovered on the mission base in Manaus - there's a picture of the items seized

Kennell wrote a letter to MNTB after he was arrested--it was sent out with their response, but I couldn't find it

Thanks. It's encouraging to me about child abuse awareness, but I wish to hell it hadn't happened. I know that seems silly to even say, as no one would have wished that. But it's painful. The truth is terrifying. What other things did he do in the cover-up of this these heinous acts? He would've had some elaborate deceptions going. Only a few hundred people even speak that language--he knew it fluently . . .his parents hope for their life work was clearly on him . . . Were the girls punished once the news got out?

We heard over and over again, "Be sure your sin will find you out." Almost gleefully. But it's no fun to hear about this.

Old men patting you down, feeling you up . . .well, that seemed a "normalish" thing . . .sad as that is, but God Almighty, performing sexual abuse of prepubescent girls from an isolated obsolete tribe? Making videos of it, trading them with who knows how many other pedophiles? And riding bikes, doing medical care, using a ventriloquist dummy to engage them?

This doesn't even get an apology of any kind from NTM? In Portuguese they translated NT's statement of "being heartsick" as "we're depressed."

They had better be depressed. And scared.

I agree, where are all the really pissed off NTM men, who are disgusted with this?????

Women of NTM unite, get your man to take a stand on this, don't let him hide behind your skirt!!!!!!!!! Tell him to be a real man and stand up for women and children, tell him to call Larry Brown and say this is not good enough!!!!!!! Tell him that until he is a real man you will not be cooking, cleaning and keeping house for him!!!!!!!! Tell him there will be no marital duties going on and that he had better start taking cold showers!!!!!!!!!!!!
And if he won't take a stand, ask why and keep asking till you find out why!!!!!!! Tell the women around you to do the same, get some action going, don't just sit there playing second fiddle to a broken violin. Because if you don't, who will you blame when it is your child that is raped by the next monster?????? Who will you turn to, not your NTM friends, because they will want you to cover it up or just quietly go home!!!!!!!!!!!
And if you can't do it, because you are too afraid, then you seriously need help and you aren't going to find it singing "We Welcome You".

I'd really like to post that onto the NTM Facebook page and website (if there's some way to do that), but I'm pretty sure it would only be there for about five seconds before it got deleted.

But the message needs to get out to the members somehow.

And apparently "bitter" and "out of fellowship" MKs aren't going to be heard.

How about we advocate for restitution for the tribal girls? Because they were hard to identify, NT could pay for an ongoing, totally Brazilian-run safe house/hotline for victims of abuse.

Great idea, but wouldn't that set a bad precedent?
