NTM, before circulating a communication, I recommend reading it one more time to ensure that it makes some sense. What does putting the accused on leave have to do with whether the relevant actions were connected with your organization.

I understand you are setting the legal stage for asserting the actions were not performed "in the scope" of "employment", but please don't confuse the determination of the merits of a legal defense with a determination of whether or not somebody should be fired.

And what does "on leave" mean?

That seems to be a new term I am not familiar with in NTM. Wouldn't that imply that a person is still a member of the organization?

I am more used to seeing the old "dismissed, out of fellowship".

Mostly, I think that statement really means that they have no idea how to deal with this.

With his admission (according to news reports) of the abuse and pornography, I think their position should be crystal clear, and his status should be terminated without recourse. Rather than trying to distance themselves from him, they should be using this opportunity to make an example, and fully support the victims and law enforcement, both in the USA and Brasil.

As I said before, the current statements make it look like they are trying to hide something.

Why haven't we heard anything from the leadership directly? And why is MNTB completely silent about this?

Our neighbour in PNG and NZ, was jailed by a NZ court for sex offences committed within NTM. His family asked that this be made known to fellow Tribers. NTM refused and the line came out that he was "on leave for mental health reasons".
They also stated he only had one victim. No inquiry was ever made of those MKs he had contact with, including myself who spent considerable time alone with this man. Their evidence for his only having one victim, is that they asked him and he said he only had one. This of course is utterly reprehensible, especially given that when his victim first raised the abuse with leadership they asked the offender if it was true and when he said "no" they believed him and let him remain. So the victim had to get the NZ authorities to nab him on NZ soil.
And to make this even more perverted. Crossview sent two of their members to interview him when they thought he had misappropriated mission funds. So they couldn't do a thing about his sexual offending, but the first hint of money going missing and hey presto they fly two leaders into another country.
I have a pretty good idea who these two leaders were and have written to both of them. The Australian never replied and the American can't remember where he was, but had a lovely time of fellowship with other Tribers about the same time as all this took place.

So what is the bet NTM knew about Warren Kennels offending, may have even asked him about it, but if he said, "no" they would have said, "case closed"? Except when he got home there was someone waiting who had taken this seriously and now we see him in an Orange Jump suit, looking pathetic.

Wake up folks, we are not dealing with an organisation that has victims interests at heart (with perhaps one or two exceptions). This is all about $$$$ and self preservation. Look at my evidence above, check it out if you don't believe me.

I completely agree with Bemused.

I fully believe money is why Ntm refuses to be open and transparent. So much about being a faith mission. A few times I was called under the carpet for not walking by faith and now I believe that Ntm is doing that here. If from the start, many years ago, they had cared about the missionary children, they would have exposed the acts, cared for the victims and prevented further abuse. I think supporters would have appreciated the abuse being dealt with in a godly moral manner. But instead supporters have been left in the dark and the constant cover ups snowballed and grew in size. If they truly walked by faith or practiced what they preached, they would have been willing to acknowledge the gross crimes committed and lives damaged. They would have asked prayer supporters to pray for the victims. But they have spent years trying to hide it all. A few brave Senegalese mk's spoke out and praise God some exposure has happened. But yeah if Ntm really had their faith and trust in God they wouldn't have to hide their sins. As bemused says, they are seeking self preservation. They need to maintain their spiritual facade to have funds continue to pour in. I no longer support Ntm at all. I give to charities but will not send to any more Ntm missionaries because I know of their crimes. If however they would fess up and acknowledge their horrible acts, I would support the three missionary units I used to give to.

It's not like we are asking for the moon on a plate.

Does anyone know if the members of Ntm were really notified of Scott's acts of crime? True to form, the friend I asked has not responded to me. Denial is the easy way for some to continue on serving in a crime=committing cult.
