I just heard from a retired member of NTM who had not heard anything about the arrest of Scott Kennell and who had not received any notification from NTM regarding the arrest. This person heard the news from me, today. This person, although retired, receives all of the NTM communications to active members and was not entirely happy to be hearing that they have been left out of receiving such information. That will answer your question, Raz.

I should have said that this person usually receives all communications sent out to members, active or retired. If such a communication went out from NTM, as Raz pointed out, it either went to a select few or to only active members.

my parents (retired NTM missionaries) did receive the internal communication.

Interesting, Journey, will try to get some more info. Is it possible that this person I heard from may have missed it somehow? I will ask about that.

I guess I base my supposition now on my experience on the field. Because I had no children in an mk school I was not notified of the abuse that happened on our field. I ignorantly continued to serve in a mission who punished the victims rather than the culprit. For years I knew I was a problem to the mission but they were "gracious" enough to let me be part of their organization. And my problem???? I disagreed with leadership. I was vocal. I can seriously say I cared for the mk's and if you would ask any of them on my team they knew it. If I would have known about the atrocities committed on the very field I served, I would have left. What hypocrites. I always knew there was something wrong but could never put my finger on it and I was left in the dark when they finally did quase or partly fess up to the crimes. Bonnie and Kari's blog was what explained it all to me. Anyway I say all that to say this.... I don't believe all of the members of Ntm heard about Scott. Or it was candy-coated.

OR....... and this is what really stinks. The remaining members are numb and blindly continue to serve in Ntm. My friend whom I asked if they heard about Scott knows of a lot of the crimes committed and continues to serve with the organization. This is the one friend I consider too valuable to give up on as this person is an mk born into the Ntm culture. From birth this person has not learned how to think on their own and because of that I do not give up on this person and pray I can be there for them the day Ntm abandons them.

I just realized my post could be very offensive to Ntm mis. and I do not intend that.

I really feel that people born into the Ntm mk culture have a lot against them. First they have an organization full of abusers who get away with crime etc.

But what I meant to say is like this. I was trained to not really question leadership. Sort of take their word as God's word itself. I think mks are deluged with this idea too and the almighty infallible mission idea.

HOWEVER I SEE SO MANY OF YOU MKS ON THIS SITE WHO HAVE LEARNED TO THINK. You have gotten out of the Ntm mindset and have a mind of your own and so I know it is possible for mks to see differently. However it was against many odds eh?
