Oh dear me, I was afraid you would get your feelings hurt on that one. |

I appreciate the reality that is emerging here. It is refreshing to hear others draw the same conclusion that I've reached. The missionary life is not the life of self denial and sacrifice for many that is so often written and talked about. It's actually a pretty good life, with little accountability and generous benefits. In fact it can become so comfortable it is hard to leave. Not many of us in the West have housegirls to do our housework and local men to keep the outside of the place nice. And not many of us can decline to do work we don't want to, by telling the field committee God has called us to do something else and there is some other lesser missionary who can be made to do the undesirable jobs!!!!!!!!!!! No it's a hard road and the easier road is just to keep on in the mission, having someone else pay for everything and having every request met by writing home about how hard it all is. And I'm with Bemused, why does Raz want to go on a cruise to the Bahamas. There won't be any MKs on the ship, but there will probably be a few Tribers on furlough or sick leave, soaking up the sun and ministering to the needy!!!!!!!!!! ![]() |

Ha, ha. That would put you in Cook Straight (for those not familiar with Kiwiland, that it the bit of water that separates the two main Islands), hope you got a big boat, it can be rough. ![]() The ever inventive Bemused will no doubt be bbqing those worms at the bottom of his garden with his homegrown veges. Nice bit of Reindeer on the BBQ and we can have a great reunion. Pity Raz is going to the Bahamas ![]() |

I'm sure this kind of talk will get present day ministers even more paranoid. There might be forthcoming sermons on how The apostles were financially supported. There will be justification going on. I know. I have siblings getting support. I, in fact have to write for five minutes to justify every 1/2 hour of nursing that I do. "If you didn't document it, you didn't do it." This is not going to stop. As long as people are valued for their allegiances, their belief system that is after all, in their head, it will continue. Why is this specific belief system so valued? Because it is like their own, and it validates them. And they think they are right. It's a good feeling, to know that you have the answers. I LOVED that feeling. I really, really miss that feeling. |
