Hello Gene, I realize different words mean different thing depending on each individual. But my question is, what is the motivating factor?

Are we in this to make ourselves feel better? Are we in it to inflict as much pain on everybody involved as possible hoping that it will ease our own hurt?
-In this case revenge would not be a good thing.

Or are we in it to see that God is glorified in our lives and by the outcome?
-in this case, the revenge that we seek ultimately will be of great help to those who were abused and a huge step in seeing that kids are protected in NTM in the future.

I know that you could read this and think, "man this guy really doesn't think we should be going after the abusers and those who protected them."

Well, you couldn't be more wrong. I am all for it.

I just know that if I am in it for me, healing will not be the outcome.

Very well said! Except I don't see how anyone could read this and think you wouldn't be in favor of going after the abusers and those who protected them!

There is a scriptural sense in which "revenge" and related ideas are proper. Inflicting pain on people, disproportionate retaliation, torture and such things are totally out of bounds. Doing things to slake our own thirst to get back at them is forbidden by God. But, allowing God to punish them through the civil authorities is our responsibility.

Many times people on this forum misunderstand one another because of the emotional baggage a lot of these words carry. Thank you for doing such a good job of explaining things!

First off I just wonder why OT feels it's his duty to get on the Tambo forum to hump a new leg! Really, what's up with that? Do you really think it's your obligation to cross examine any and all? I agree completely with Tambo Graduate and think we should be concerned with healing...I don't know any other guy who can quote from Marry Poppins verbatum! Your mocking, derisive tone makes me wonder what it must be like for those who have to endure you on a daily basis...sheesh already! I've been waiting a long time to hear from my compatriotas from Tambo...Are you that ornery that you need to run them off?

LOL LOL LOL I think many more would support us here if there was less leg humping and word parsing. I know several who read but will not comment

I say AMEN to MrsK. While I do think this site is being used to heal I think the rules are that everyone gets to voice their opinions and no one is silenced for what they think. A large boil has been lanced and all the stuff coming out ain`t going to be real pretty. I think Kari and Bonnie will let us know if we get out of line. I think I know you, Tombo Grad, we spent quite a bit of time facing each other on the soccer field at Camp Awana.

My appologies to MrsM for the typo. Not too good at the typewriter or I should say the keyboard.

It took me a few minutes to figure out who MrsK was but once I looked at the keyboard, I saw how close K is to M. :D

Tambo Graduate....thank you so much for your wonderful input. It's all about what will bring glory to the Lord. Bringing all of this horrific sin that has been covered up out in the open will do that I believe.

Some thoughts rolling around in my head....
God is the same God he has been since the beginning. No matter what I go through in this life, that fact will never change. The very same God who we love and praise when everything is going well in our lives is the same God that sits on His throne when we are in our darkest hour. If we lose hold of this truth, than we begin to doubt that God is in control. And if we reach that point, all hope is lost. The very basis of our theology is then shot. When nothing seems to make sense, we have to return to this foundational truth.
To realize that God (In complete control) allows inexplicably hard things in to my life is often hard for me to understand. That is just human nature. In the midst of times of absolute agony it is hard to see it as something that God, who loves me as His son, has allowed in my life.
If we start building with this as our base, it shines a completely different light on the events of our lives.

I think I share some of Tambo Graduate's reservations, maybe or maybe not for the same reasons.

My worry is that this site becomes just a place to vent or complain, in which case it ends up doing more harm than good. However, if it's a place where we can identify a group of voices willing to speak up through the telling of their stories here, then an actual effort could be made to confront NTM about its handling of abuse issues, or about abusers still on the field. If the later is the case, than for me it's certainly worth speaking up.

Just because Tambo is no longer a school or even owned by NTM doesn't change the responsibility to deal with the abuse that happened there over the years, the responsibility to correct the missteps taken in handling abuse there, the responsibility to the abused from over the years, and the responsibility to confront abusers who are on or off the field.

Hello SherpaDude, This is my first post although I have been checking this site regularly. We spent a couple of years at Tambo as associates. There were many things I loved about it but I also have memories of some of the staff that upset me to this day.

I know Tambo doesn't exist in it's former role as a boarding school...but, the experiences need to be told. If you knew a bridge was washed out, would you try to warn the next oncoming driver? There are other schools in existence that could benefit by you telling your stories...just sayin'.

And the reality is, when one MK school shuts down, a lot of the staff/teachers and practices/attitudes just transfer over to the other schools still remaining.
